St. James Service Club Announces Half Year Results

The St. James Service Club’s fiscal year runs from July 1 through June 30. For the first half of the fiscal year, SJSC sponsored four fundraising events and three service projects. They were highly successful including the following: In total, $78,000 in cash donations was raised to fund grants for local nonprofits; and gifts-in-kind donations were collected having an additional value of $63,000.

Fundraising proceeds fund grants for vetted Brunswick county nonprofit organizations. The Service Club’s largest fundraiser, “Celebrate the Holidays”, raised over $37,000 (including Holiday Home Tour/Festival ticket sales, Café, Bakery, and raffles). “Orange Bows” netted over $22,300; “Thrill of the Hunt II”, was nearly $16,600; and “Attraction Book” sales were over $2,000.

Service projects generally have specific recipients associated with the collection of in-kind goods and some cash donations. The largest first half year service project, “School Supply Drive”, collected supplies valued at $39,000. “Cindy’s Angels” provided $22,800 in holiday gifts for needy children/seniors/families, and the pop-up “Thanksgiving Food Drive” resulted in goods valued at almost $1,300 for the SOIICF Food Pantry.

Thanks to the tireless leaders and volunteers who accomplish such great results, and to the St. James community who support the Service Club.
