Much Ado About Nothing: Elvis Meets Shakespeare

The St. James Service Club has partnered with the Brunswick Little Theater to bring a fun, summer spin to Shakespeare’s classic romantic comedy, Much Ado about Nothing. Using Shakespeare’s original language against the setting of a 1960’s style beach movie, the play shares the tale of warring Beatrice and Benedik, whose friends know they’re really in love, the naïve Claudio and Hero, and the villainous Don John who seeks to destroy the couples’ relationships.

“Much Ado about Nothing or Elvis Meets Shakespeare” will be performed at the St. James Community Center on Friday, July 12 from 7-9 PM and on Saturday, July 13 from 3-5 PM.

Online ticket sales are closed. There are a few tickets available at the door for each performance.

Why Shakespeare?

Rosina Whitfield fell in love with Shakespeare as early as middle school where she saw a production of Hamlet with a drop dead gorgeous guy as the lead   she later studied in London, taking workshops with the Royal Shakespeare Company.  As the Artistic Director of the Drama Center in Greensboro, she instituted a teen Shakespeare program, drawing 40+ teens to audition, as well as an annual Shakespeare in the park series.  She has two  Shakespeare adaptations published, and enjoys sharing how fun Shakespeare is to perform.
